Having People Do Your Work For You
If you want to be able to make money doing nothing, you have to find someone who is willing to do the something so you can do the nothing. Fortunately, there are many ways to “manipulate” people into doing these things for you.
- Offering a percentage of the profits: You show them you are the expert and that they need to work for you if they want to succeed. Since you already have experience, it will be much easier for them to work for you and learn how everything works, rather than going off on their own and figuring everything out the hard way. If I see someone is motivated and willing to put in the work, I’ll offer them a percentage of the profits, typically 10-15%. Oftentimes, they are very happy with this amount and are willing to do whatever I tell them needs to be done. If they push for more, tell them they’re only doing 10% of the work and you’re working your ass off doing the other 90%. It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not, you’re trying to make money, not friends.
- “Flossing”: This is by far the easiest and my personal favorite method to get people to do your work for you. Buy some expensive things and say you bought them with the money you earned from your business (the one you’re trying to get them to work for). I bought a brand new Dell 2407WFP-HC (a $700 24″ monitor) about a year ago and everyone who saw it was impressed. When I bought a $1500 sound system a few weeks later, everyone was even more impressed and asked how in the world I had so much money, still being in school and all. The ones who I thought would be hard working and would be able to help me make money, I told them about what I was doing (which at the time was promoting poker affiliate sites), showed them what to do, and soon enough, I wasn’t doing shit and they were doing all the landing page setups, keyword research, and advertising, while giving me 85% of the profits. How nice is that?
